Duwende, a six-person a cappella band featuring J. Aaron Boykin (Baritone/Tenor), Derrick L. Hicks (Tenor), Abbey Janes (Soprano), Tomas Cruz (Alto/Tenor), Edward Chung (Vocal Percussion), and David Lane (Bass), will perform at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2, 196 Allen St. in New York on Monday, February 16, 2015. Doors open at 6:30 PM, the show begins at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $12-$15 and can be purchased online. This event is 21 and over.

Duwende, best known for their fiercely original, bass- and-beatbox-driven funk/pop style of music, recently released a Michael Jackson tribute album titled Remember: The Music Of Michael Jackson, which contains covers of some of his biggest hits, including “Billie Jean,” “Smooth Criminal” and “Rock With You,” leading to a string of international performances. They’ll be performing fan favorites and new material in anticipation of their 2015 new release. www.Duwende.com

Lia Chang is an actor, a performance and fine art botanical photographer, and an award-winning multi-platform journalist. Lia starred as Carole Barbara in Lorey Hayes’ Power Play at the 2013 National Black Theatre Festival in Winston-Salem, N.C., with Pauletta Pearson Washington, Roscoe Orman, and made her jazz vocalist debut in Rome Neal’s Banana Puddin’ Jazz “LADY” at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe in New York. She is profiled in Jade Magazine.
